Five national sports federations are disaffiliated or suspended from the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD), a resolution established on July 11, 2023 and ratified on July 25 of that same year.

The Badminton, Fencing, Modern Pentathlon, Surfing and Precision Shooting federations were disconnected from the COD and consequently, due to alleged irregular practices, they also do not receive funds directly through the Ministry of Sports, corresponding to the monthly allocations.

Each case has its particularities or reasons for the COD measure, but in general sense the organization relies on its article 21.6 of its statutes which reads: “In accordance with the disciplinary rules of the COD, when a member has failed to fulfill his or her duties and tasks, has violated the Olympic Charter and/or these Statutes or has not respected or implemented the decisions or resolutions of the COD bodies, this member will be subject to the following graduated measures and sanctions, depending on the seriousness of the facts and the level of damage or infringement:

a) Caution

b) Warning

c) Suspension

d) Expulsion

After the decisions taken in principle for the complaints made against the different federations, either by depositing documents in the Ministry or in the COD, or the non-delivery of the reports and non-declaration before the Comptroller General of the Republic on behalf of those five federations, the COD proceeds to sanction.

The five federations received a period of 90 days, between July and October, to normalize and none of them proceeded satisfactorily.

Given the irregularities, they were sanctioned.
