The selection test for the African Games was held on Saturday at the small Mahamasina sports palace.

After postponement for a few weeks, the national technical management of the Malagasy Judo Federation organized, on Saturday, at the small palace of Mahamasina, the selection test for the next African Games in Accra, Ghana, from March 8 to 23. Two weeks before the event, those selected continue their preparation, while awaiting confirmation of the exact judo quota.

Seventy-five judokas over the age of 15 took part in the test. “This is the first competition of the Federation, at the end of which fighters can accumulate points and be classified in their category,” underlines Mamy Randriamasinoro, National Technical Director.

They were selected in order of priority, according to their performance and their chance of medal. “This first competition also served as a classification of the members of the national team, awarding them points with a view to the African Senior Championship in April 2025,” continues the technician. “The level was average, but could be improved. They are very promising young people and the next generation for the 2024-2025 seasons,” he concludes.
