Sports and inclusion show on stage at the Bernalda for the second stage of the Interregional Integrated Basketball Championship, organized by the regional committees of Puglia and Basilicata of the Italian Sports Centre. Social commitment, one of the cornerstones of the Csi’s activity, finally arrives in Lucania thanks to the commitment and availability of the Riva dei Greci Basket Bernalda Amateur Sports Association.
The commitment of the president Giuseppe Carella, who has been involved in activities with differently abled boys and girls for years, found the support and availability of the Matera Territorial Committee of the Italian Sports Centre, translating the will of each person into the participation of the Bernaldo club in the Puglia’s activity has always been more ready to organize a championship in terms of numbers and participants. Thus, after some appearances and organized friendlies, here is the Interregional Integrated Basketball Championship, which for the first time, in the second stage scheduled in the calendar, stopped in the Lucanian territory, in Bernalda.
The Bernaldese stage saw the Gravina teams compete against Taranto, Cassano who faced Santeramo and the hosts Riva dei Greci Basket who challenged Ginosa Marina. Regardless of the results achieved on the field, which remain a relative and merely numerical aspect of this experience, the boys and girls involved finally have the possibility of having competed at a competitive level and having increased their availability and desire to take on the sport with ever greater enthusiasm. An event which, among other things, involved a large audience in the stands, intrigued by attending an integrated basketball event and which gave rise to an exciting all-round inclusive afternoon, not only involving the families of the athletes, who they should always be thanked for their availability, but also a good part of the local community.
Present, for an institutional greeting to all the participants, a representation of the Administration of the Municipality of Bernalda led by the Mayor, Domenico Tataranno and representing the Italian Sports Center the regional vice President and of the Territorial Committee of Matera, Eustachio Di Cuia, which brought due thanks for the success of the stage and for the commitment made to the home association, Riva dei Greci Basket Bernalda, which has now been immersed in the world of Integrated Basketball for years. Next appointment for the third stage, after the Easter holidays at the home of Asd Virtus Marinese.
