Extremely unpleasant news arrived from Italy with a view to the Bulgarian national volleyball season starting next month.

Alex Nikolov has a health problem and because of this he misses the matches until the end of the campaign of his “Kuchine Lube” (Civitanova).

The club explained that the 20-year-old forward has severe back pain caused by discopathy with a herniated disc.

“Lube” is categorical that the health of the volleyball player is the most important and therefore he will not play anymore.

Nikolov’s diagnosis means that he will have to rest for at least a month, during which treatment will be carried out.

It is considered safe, but a second specialist opinion will still be sought.

Thus, Nikolov certainly misses the first tournament of the League of Nations.

The new national coach Gianlorenzo Blengini, who coached Alex in “Loube” for almost 2 seasons, will make his debut at the head of Bulgaria in Antalya.

In the Turkish resort, our state team will open the campaign with matches against the world powers France and the USA, as well as the Netherlands and Canada from May 21 to 26.

The hope is that Nikolov will recover for the second tournament of the League of Nations, which will be held in Japan from June 4 to 9. Rivals there will be Poland, Germany, Iran and Slovenia.
