But I think that you see the hole there with Freddy being out, most likely. That would be a strong candidate.”

The rationale behind this decision, according to Murphy, was to gain a better understanding of Oliver Dunn’s abilities as the team considered whether to keep him in the major leagues or send him back to the minors.

Although he had a delayed start this season due to bone spurs in his throwing elbow, he has made a speedy recovery and has already started in two games for the Sounds.

There are two additional starting pitchers, Janson Junk and Aaron Ashby, on the current 40-man roster who are not beneath Gasser on the starting depth chart. However, both Junk and Ashby are not currently ahead of Gasser on the depth chart. The Milwaukee team could also choose to have a day where they use multiple pitchers from the bullpen, but this would be their eighth consecutive game on Friday.
