The young French talent, affiliated with the Sauber Academy, does not hesitate to reveal his devotion to Alonso, even in an interview for the podcast “Pitstop.” Pourchaire confesses, “I have to admit that Alonso has inspired me greatly when it comes to race starts and overtaking. I particularly admired his performances during his time at Ferrari.” It is surprising to hear such praise from Pourchaire, considering he is only 20 years old and Alonso’s stint at Ferrari took place from 2010 to 2014.

Expanding on his admiration, Pourchaire explains, “Alonso executes fantastic starts and effortlessly overtakes one or two cars. He maneuvers from right to left, almost like he’s playing with the other drivers. My representative advised me to think of Alonso during my own race starts, as it would feel like being in a video game. He truly enjoys the competition and engages with his fellow drivers. Fernando is an exceptional talent, and it’s remarkable that he remains competitive at the age of 42.”
What If Alonso Joined Red Bull?
Pourchaire goes even further, boldly stating that if Alonso were to join Red Bull, he would be able to challenge Max Verstappen, the current star driver of the team. Pourchaire confidently asserts, “I’m sure of it.”
