World number one Scottie Scheffler, winner of the Masters and the RBC Heritage, will not take part in the 6th Signature Event of the PGA Tour season in Charlotte, North Carolina next week.

The PGA Tour will put down his bags at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, May 9-12, for the Wells Fargo Championship but this will not be the case for number 1 of the FedEx Cup, Scottie Scheffler.

The indisputable best player in the world, winner of 4 of the last 5 tournaments in which he has competed, is the only eligible player not to appear on the list of starters published this Friday and before the finalization of the field planned for the from the CJ Cup Byron Nelson Sunday.

Happy imminent event

Scheffler’s wife, Meredith, is still expecting the birth of their first child any day now, and so Scheffler’s choice was to stay by her side.

A doubt even persists concerning the participation of the Texan in the 2nd Major of the season, the PGA Championship au Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky, the following week, from May 16 to 19.

Matthieu Pavon returns

At Quail Hollow, the defending champion will be Wyndham Clark while Rory McIlroy will attempt the pass of three after a success in 2010, his first title on the PGA Tour, and a victory in 2021.

Among the other favorites, we note the presence of the winner of the 2022 edition, Max Homa, Xander Schauffele, Ludvig Åberg, without forgetting the return to US soil of Matthew Pavon, 9th from the FedEx Cup.
