Alonso Gains Position in the Festival of Sanctions in Canada

The Dutch champion, Max Verstappen, arrives at the Canadian Grand Prix with high spirits after his impressive victory in the previous Spanish Grand Prix. Verstappen currently leads the Formula 1 World Championship with 170 points, thanks to five victories and seven podium finishes. His teammate, Sergio ‘Checo’ Perez, sits in second place with 117 points.

Verstappen has secured five victories compared to Perez’s two. With the cancellation of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, Red Bull drivers have dominated all the races so far. Fernando Alonso, the only alternative to Red Bull’s dominance, currently holds the third position in the championship with 99 points.

As the Formula 1 World Championship returns to Europe, Fernando Alonso aims to deliver another blow on the table at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Canada. The Aston Martin driver has already achieved five podium finishes in the early races of the championship.

In the Canadian Grand Prix, the qualifying session holds great importance for the future of the race. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and his teammate Carlos Sainz seem to be far from being able to compete with Red Bull. Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton currently sit in fourth place with 87 points, followed by their teammate George Russell with 65 points.

Red Bull knows they have a significant advantage in the 2023 Canadian Grand Prix, especially on the famous Gilles Villeneuve circuit. The energy drink brand leads both the Drivers’ World Championship with Verstappen and the Constructors’ Championship.
