Mexico City.- The national boccia team He obtained a silver and a bronze medal through Eduardo Sánchez in class BC1 y Edgar Mora in BC4 as part of the participation of the Mexican representative in the Boccia World Cup Montreal 2024, which grants points for the international ranking.

This performance represents the best result for Mexico in a World Cup of the discipline, since two individual medals had never been won in a competition of this level.

The gold medalist of the Parapan American Games Lima 2019 and Santiago 2023, Eduardo Sánchez Reyes defeated 9-2 in the quarterfinals against the Canadian Lance Cryderman, and then beat the Portuguese André Ramos 7-0 and settled in the duel for the title against Muhammad Syafa of Indonesia.

Likewise, in the BC4 men’s competitions, the Mexican Edgar Mora Cano doubles 4-2 in the quarterfinals to Radek Prochzka of the Czech Republic and in the semifinals he lost 2-6 to Stephen Mcguire of Great Britain.

In the duel for the bronze medal, the Santiago 2023 national team took the victory with a 5-4 result against Davor Komar from Croatia.

At the end of the individual awards, the head coach, Aracely Garza, highlighted the result of the Mexican team.

“It is a historic participation in the harvest of individual results, it is also part of the preparation for Paris 2024 and marks points for the next Paralympic cycle (Los Angeles 2028),” he pointed out.

After these results, the Mexican team will continue its participation in the Montreal 2024 World Cup, now in the BC1/BC2 team and BC4 pairs modalities.
