Lando Norris currently has a contract to race with McLaren -where he has competed since arriving in F1 as a rookie in 2019- until the end of the 2025 campaign.

But with uncertainty over Sergio Pérez’s position as Max Verstappen’s teammate at Red Bull beyond this year, speculation continues that the team could make a bold bet on another driver, especially if other potential replacements for Pérez in AlphaTauri, Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda, are not considered worthy of a promotion.

Norris has already received interest from Red Bull before, having been offered a place at what was then called Toro Rosso in 2018 when he was racing in Formula 2 and Red Bull team boss, Christian Hornerconfirmed: “We’ve spoken to Lando a couple of times over the years.”

Sources of Motorsport.com They have also suggested that even after Norris signed his final contract with McLaren in early 2022, Red Bull’s informal interest has continued and he is known to get on well with Verstappen.

When asked during the unveiling of the 2024 McLaren livery how serious Red Bull’s interest might be, BrownCEO of McLaren, responded to the group of media present, including Motorsport.com: “I have the belief that, whether they are employees, drivers or sponsors, our job is to take care of them and make them want to be at McLaren.”

“So I tend to focus on making sure McLaren is the best place and people want to be with us. Because ultimately you can’t control the external approaches of those different people.”

“So no, I’m very confident that the relationship we have with Lando (is still strong).

“I know he’s very excited about this year and was very impressed with what he saw in the second half of last year.”

“He loves working with Andrea and the whole team. So all we have to continue to do is give him the environment he wants to be in.”

“I hope it stays, rather than trying to sell it to the competition. That’s never been my way.”
