Iga Swiatek, winner of the WTA 1000 tournament in Madrid after her victory in the final against Aryna Sabalenka on Saturday, further increases her lead over the Belarusian at the top of the world rankings published on Monday.

The Pole is almost 3,500 points ahead of Sabalenka, who was the defending champion in Madrid and is therefore losing ground.

While waiting for the start of another WTA 1000, in Rome this week, the Belarusian player narrowly retains her second place ahead of the American Coco Gauff. In the Top 10, the main change is the drop of two places for the Greek Maria Sakkari (8th), eliminated in the round of 16 in Madrid.

Vondrousova regains her best ranking

The Czech Marketa Vondrousova, sixth, and the Chinese Qinwen Zheng, seventh, took advantage of this to each regain the best ranking of their respective careers. Former world No. 2, Tunisian Ons Jabeur, who had a difficult start to the season, regained some confidence in Spain by reaching the quarters and stabilized in ninth place.

The American Madison Keys, who beat Jabeur before losing in the semi-final to Swiatek in Madrid, for her part jumped four places and is 16th.
