Castlelyons Clinch Top Spot with Thrilling Victory over Inniscarra

Castlelyons finished their group program atop the Co-op Superstores Senior A Hurling Championship, defeating Inniscarra in a thrilling encounter at Páirc Uí Rinn on Saturday.

Battle for the Top

With both sides eyeing the semi-finals, the match was a tight affair in the early stages. Defences were on top, and scoring opportunities were scarce. By halftime, Inniscarra led 0-12 to 0-5.

Second Half Surge

Castlelyons came out firing in the second half, scoring four points in a row to close the gap. In the 49th minute, Alan Fenton put Castlelyons ahead with a goal, making the score 1-11 to 0-13.

Late Drama

The match was decided in the final quarter. Shane Cotter set up David Morrison for Castlelyons’ second goal, putting them up by five. Inniscarra responded with a goal from a 20-metre free by Patrick Holland, but it wasn’t enough to deny Castlelyons victory.
