Cateno Association Shines at National Tournament
The ASD Gymnase of Aci Catena delivered a stunning performance at the Grand Prix of Caltanissetta, held February 28th and March 1st, winning a total of 12 medals. The team’s impressive haul included 4 gold, 6 silver, and 2 bronze medals, showcasing the high level of skill within the association.
Individual Highlights: Giammona and Musumeci Lead the Way
Ruben Giammona was a standout performer, claiming the gold medal in the Under 15 singles category after a challenging final that went to a third set. He further added to his success with a first-place finish in the Under 15 men’s doubles alongside teammate Andrea Licciardello, and a silver medal in the Under 15 mixed doubles with Elena Calabrò of BC Paternò.
Licciardello also secured a podium finish, earning a bronze medal in the Under 15 singles.
Carla Musumeci demonstrated her prowess in the Under 17 women’s doubles, winning gold with Michelle Alercia of ASD Le Saette. Musumeci also earned silver medals in the Under 17 women’s singles and the Under 19 mixed doubles, partnering with Mattia Occhipinti.
Occhipinti and Franceschino Contribute to Medal Count
Mattia Occhipinti added to the team’s success with a silver medal in the U19 singles and a bronze in the senior men’s doubles, paired with Gabriele Galati from Palermo.
Coach Andrea Franceschino also competed, securing a silver medal in the mixed doubles with Giulia Mangani (Le Saette Misterbianco).
