State Tournament Action Heats Up

The Virginia High School League (VHSL) basketball tournaments are underway, with quarterfinal and final games determining the state champions across all classifications. Here’s a breakdown of the key results from recent competition.

Boys Basketball Results

Class 6 Quarterfinals (March 3)

• Landstown at Patriot, 7 p.m.

Class 6 Semifinals (March 6)

The Class 6 final will be held at The Siegel Center in Richmond at 2:30 p.m.

Regional Highlights – Class 6 Region B

Patriot defeated Gainesville 88-54 in the Class 6 Region B final on February 27th.

Class 3 Region B

Skyline won the Class 3 Region B boys championship, defeating Meridian 44-37 on February 26th.

Skyline also claimed the Class 3 Region B girls title, winning 66-61 against James Monroe on February 26th.

Cardinal District

Gar-Field emerged victorious in the Cardinal District boys tournament, defeating Potomac 60-52 on February 13th.

Potomac won the Cardinal District girls tournament, defeating Woodbridge 58-35 on February 13th.

Cedar Run District

Patriot secured the Cedar Run District boys championship, defeating Gainesville 67-65 on February 17th.

Osbourn Park won the Cedar Run District girls championship, defeating Gainesville 71-44 on February 17th.

Commonwealth District

Massaponax won the Commonwealth District boys tournament, defeating Brooke Point 67-53 on February 17th.

Colonial Forge won the Commonwealth District girls tournament, defeating Stafford 61-57 on February 17th.
