San Antonio Spurs forward-center Victor Wembanyama has been named the NBA Western Conference Player of the Month for February, the league announced Tuesday. The 22-year-old also received the honor of Western Conference Defensive Player of the Month.

This marks the first time Wembanyama has received the Player of the Month award. He was previously named Player of the Week at the end of October.

Undefeated February

Wembanyama led the Spurs to an undefeated month, going 11-0 in February. This performance helped the Spurs secure second place in the Western Conference standings with a record of 43 wins and 17 losses.

During February, Wembanyama averaged 22.5 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 3.5 blocks per game.

Continuing a French Tradition

Wembanyama is not the first French player to receive this honor. Tony Parker was named Western Conference Player of the Month in January 2013 even as playing for the San Antonio Spurs.

Cade Cunningham of the Detroit Pistons was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Month for February.
