Moritz Freitag from TC Bad Waltersdorf is considered one of Austria’s best young tennis hopefuls. He first held a racket in his hand at the age of two and a half. “My siblings always played, and then I started too,” explains Austria’s U14 number one. “I like playing tennis because I simply enjoy it,” says Freitag. But the professional aspect is also important: “My big dream is to win a Grand Slam one day.”

Good performance should be confirmed

In the near future, he wants to prove himself in tournaments in particular. After the tennis ace has already won international tournaments in Poland, Portugal and Latvia, among others, the East Styrian hopes to do well on the ITV Tennis Tour and the Tennis Europe Junior Tour. The strong performances so far are paying off, and Freitag has been invited to the renowned IMG Future Stars tournament. Freitag’s tennis role model is clearly Rafael Nadal, which is also reflected in his playing style. “One of my greatest strengths is definitely my forehand,” explains the young tennis player. His slice still causes him problems sometimes, but he still has enough time to practice.
