Expanding Beyond the Court: Yokohama Excellence’s January Initiatives
Yokohama Excellence has demonstrated a strong commitment to community engagement throughout January 2026, extending its reach beyond basketball through a series of events focused on education, beautification, and local partnerships.
T League Event & Cheerleader Collaboration
At the Nojima T League 2025-2026 season Kinoshita Abiel Kanagawa home match, held at the Yokohama International Pool on January 11, 2026, Yokohama Excellence’s cheerleaders, “ELEGANCE,” energized the venue with cheering practice and player entrance performances. A shooting challenge was too held, attracting participants of all ages.
Community Involvement & Partnerships
Yokohama Excellence’s dedication extends to various community initiatives:
- Hodogaya Ward Performing Arts Festival (January 18, 2026): “ELEGANCE” participated as special guests, performing and leading a lecture on Yokohama city songs.
- Yokohama Commercial High School Collaboration (January 26, 2026): The club partnered with Kanto Gakuin University to provide assignments for a student project focused on attracting high school students to basketball games.
- “Mirai Green” Cleaning Activity (January 28, 2026): A cleanup activity was held with partners and local government support, including participation from Nishikidai Junior High School students.
- Odawara District Basketball Festival (January 31, 2026): Yokohama Excellence hosted a booth, selling custom “Unipatchin” items and promoting the club.
Educational Outreach Programs
Yokohama Excellence actively engaged with local schools through various programs:
- Career Lectures: Lectures were delivered at Mutsukawa Junior High School and Ayase City Ayakita Elementary School, focusing on career paths within the sports industry and the club’s community projects.
- Vocational Lectures (Co-created with Partner Companies): A lecture co-created with minatomirai.studio.site explored how companies can connect with local communities through sports. Lectures were held at Kamishirane Kita Junior High School and Yako Junior High School.
- Basketball & Cheer Dance Classes: Classes were held at multiple elementary schools and nursery schools, aiming to introduce children to the joy of basketball and cheer dance.
- Work Experience Programs: The club hosted work experience students from Yokohama City Nakaodai Junior High School, Yokohama City Mori Junior High School, and Yokohama City Nishikidai Junior High School.
