Professor García recommended sun salutations as an effective way to combat exhaustion. “It is not necessary to perform ten repetitions in a row since only three or four conscious rounds activate the body completely,” she said.

Consistency is Key: A Few Minutes Each Morning Can Make a Big Difference

Ten minutes a day for two weeks produced notable changes in some students. The key lies in creating the habit, five minutes every morning done mindfully, to reprogram the nervous system so that the body activates naturally and needs less coffee as a stimulus.

Start with a Simple Morning Sequence

Professor García advised beginners to start with a short morning sequence: three rounds of sun salutation, two minutes of conscious breathing, and a balancing pose such as Vrksasana (the tree).
