Yannick Noah adds a string to his racket: he will make his TV debut in the France 2 legend, “Death on clay”, where he plays a former tennis player, the channel announced.
Filming for the 90-minute TV series began Monday in Paris and the Paris region, and will end on December 13. The release date is unknown.
Former tennis star-turned-singer Yannick Noah, 64, has landed his first major role in the movie “It’s the World Upside Down!” by Nicolas Vanier, released in October. His character in “Death on Clay” was apparently inspired by his real life: Vincent Beti, “a former player and tournament director, charismatic if anxious”, according to a press release.
He assists two police officers, played by Florent Peyre and Camille Lauristan, in the investigation of the death of a young tennis hopeful as the famous tournament they manage approaches.
In the story, we meet Eleeja Noah, one of his children. The last French winner of the Roland-Garros tournament, in 1983, who was the captain of the French team that won the Davis Cup in 1991, Yannick Noah became the singer. He was very successful in this second life, starting with the song “Saga Africa”, the song of the 1991 Davis Cup and the hit of that year. The son of Cameroonian football player Zacharie Noah and his French wife, Marie-Claire Noah, is the father of six children. The former is former basketball player Joakim Noah, 39, and the latter was born in October.
