Anderlecht: Wouter Vandenhaute Cuts All Ties, Sells Shares

Wouter Vandenhaute Completely Leaves Anderlecht

In a significant turn of events, Wouter Vandenhaute, former chairman and majority shareholder of Belgian football club RSC Anderlecht, has announced his decision to sell all his shares in the club and completely cut ties. The news comes just a few months after Vandenhaute resigned from his position as chairman.

“Wouter Vandenhaute will therefore no longer have any direct or indirect interest in Anderlecht,” said a statement from his investment firm Mauvavie.

Vandenhaute’s Turbulent 5-Year Tenure at Anderlecht

Vandenhaute joined Anderlecht in 2020, initially as an advisor and later as chairman. He also bought into the club in 2021. His stint at the helm was marked by constant turnover in coaches, management, and board members, which did not translate into notable silverware. Fans grew increasingly frustrated with the lack of consistent results.

Sale of Vandenhaute’s Shares and Resignation from Board

Vandenhaute reached an agreement with Geert Duyck, his partner at Mauvavie, for the sale of his shares. This transaction ensures that Vandenhaute has no further ties with the club either directly or indirectly. Erik Wattee, Vandenhaute’s partner at Woestijnvis, will continue as a shareholder of Mauvavie, while Tomas Van den Spiegel will remain on the Board of Directors for Mauvavie to maintain club operations.
