Wolfsburg Finds New Sports Director: Pirmin Schwegler Joins from Eintracht Frankfurt
Wolfsburg, Germany – VfL Wolfsburg has found its new sports director, with Pirmin Schwegler set to join from Eintracht Frankfurt this week. The 38-year-old former Swiss international has been working as Head of Professional Football at Eintracht since the beginning of the year.
According to reports from German football magazine Kicker and Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung, the two Bundesliga clubs have reached an agreement, and the transfer is expected to take place this week.
Schwegler’s Background and New Role
Schwegler, who appeared 14 times for the Swiss national team, will take over the position left vacant by Sebastian Schindzielorz’s departure. He will report to managing director Peter Christiansen at the Lower Saxony club.
Previous Candidates Rejected
Before finding the right fit in Schwegler, Wolfsburg faced rejections from other candidates. Andreas Schicker from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and Hannover 96 managing director Marcus Mann both turned down the club’s offer.
