Swiss Wheelchair Badminton Program Hiring Development Coach

Wheelchair Sports Switzerland, operating as a department within the Swiss Paraplegic Association (SPV), is actively recruiting a coach to spearhead the sporting development of wheelchair badminton athletes across all levels, including potential Paralympic contenders.

Key Responsibilities

The role encompasses a broad spectrum of responsibilities, focusing on both competitive and grassroots development. The coach will be responsible for:

  • Co-managing and sharing responsibility for the national team and squad, encompassing training and competition preparation, up to and including the Paralympics.
  • Collaborating closely with the national coach to nurture the next generation of athletes and facilitate their transition to international competition, working in tandem with home trainers.
  • Supporting the Sports Manager in budget development, as well as establishing regulations and athlete selection criteria.
  • Providing leadership within the sports commission for strategic development initiatives.
  • Working within both competitive sports and popular sport initiatives, particularly in talent identification and the broader development of wheelchair badminton.

Essential Qualifications

Successful candidates will possess a specific skillset and experience. The ideal applicant will demonstrate:

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with a high degree of flexibility.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and coordination abilities, alongside openness to new experiences and ambitious athletes.
  • Prior experience working with badminton athletes, and either a Swiss Olympic professional coaching certification or a commitment to obtaining one.
  • Proficiency in German, French, and English, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A personable demeanor, teamwork skills, and a positive attitude.

Founded in 1980, the Swiss Paraplegic Association (SPV) serves as the national umbrella organization for individuals with paraplegia, boasting approximately 11,000 members. The SPV actively promotes, represents, and coordinates the interests of people with paraplegia, quadriplegia, and other related conditions throughout Switzerland. It also provides support to 27 regional wheelchair clubs nationwide.
