Washington Commanders Part Ways with Offensive, Defensive Coordinators Amidst Postseason Collapse
Commanders Shake Up Coaching Staff After Title Bid Fail
The Washington Commanders are shaking up their coaching staff following a disappointing 5-12 season, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
“The Commanders are parting ways with OC Kliff Kingsbury and DC Joe Whitt Jr.,” Schefter reported.
Recap of the Disappointing 2025 Season
The 2025 season was a far cry from 2024’s successful 12-5 campaign, which saw the team reach the NFC Championship for the first time since 1991.
- Injuries to quarterback Jayden Daniels undermined the team’s offense, plummeting from top 10 in scoring and yardage to 22nd in both categories.
- The defense was equally lackluster, finishing dead last in defensive yardage.
Kingsbury and Whitt’s Tenures
Kliff Kingsbury, 46, previously served as the head coach at Texas Tech and with the Arizona Cardinals. This was Joe Whitt Jr.’s, 47, first coordinator job.
Coach Dan Quinn’s Perspective
Main coach Dan Quinn, who previously led the Atlanta Falcons to an NFC title and served as the Dallas Cowboys’ defensive coordinator, is expected to stay put.
