Vietnam Women’s Futsal Team Prepares for Southeast Asian Championship with Japan Training Camp

The Vietnamese women’s futsal team departed for Japan on February 16 to begin a crucial training camp in preparation for the 2026 Southeast Asian Women’s Futsal Championship. The championship will be held immediately following the Lunar New Year.
This training camp is vital for coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang and his team as they aim to defend their title at the 2026 Southeast Asian Women’s Futsal Championship, scheduled to take place from February 24 to March 2 in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.
Japan Training Schedule
During their time in Japan, the team will participate in two friendly matches against Urayasu Women’s Futsal Club on February 17 and February 19. They are scheduled to return to Ho Chi Minh City on February 20 before traveling to Thailand to compete in the tournament two days later.
Urayasu Women’s Futsal Club is recognized as a leading team in Japanese futsal, offering a valuable opportunity for the Vietnamese players to enhance their skills, gain experience, and build composure before the championship.
Tournament Outlook
The Vietnam women’s futsal team has been drawn into Group B, where they will face Australia on February 24, the Philippines on February 25, and Myanmar on February 26.
Thailand, currently ranked eighth globally, is in Group A and has a relatively easier schedule with matches every other day.
Vietnam has recently challenged Thailand’s dominance in the region, having defeated them to win the 2024 Southeast Asian Women’s Futsal Championship and at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games.
