Okanagan Region Celebrates Double Victory

The 2025 Saratoga Cup presented by Hideaway Public House has come to a thrilling conclusion in Salmon Arm, with two Okanagan region teams emerging victorious. Vernon Jackals RFC clinched their first ever Men’s Saratoga Cup title, while Yeti Rugby Club secured their maiden Women’s Championship.

Jackals and Yeti Triumph in Intense Finals

In dramatic fashion, the Vernon Jackals RFC overcame the defending champions Terrace Northmen RFC by a narrow 20-19 margin in the Men’s final. The Jackals’ stellar performance demonstrated their resilience and growing prowess in the Rugby Union landscape.

In the Women’s competition, Yeti Rugby Club delivered a dominant 28-10 victory against the Rocky Mountain Rogues, a result that encapsulates the rising standard of women’s rugby in British Columbia.

Growth and Development at the Saratoga Cup

The 2025 edition of the Saratoga Cup witnessed expansive growth, with 10 teams from seven clubs battling it out in hot and humid conditions at Little Mountain Fields. Notably, Trail RFC made its Saratoga Cup debut in the Women’s competition, placing third overall and emphasizing the sport’s expanding footprint in the Kootenays region.

The Try Rugby Session

Kicking off the tournament was a Try Rugby session hosted in partnership with Yeti Rugby Club, providing an opportunity for aspiring athletes to experience the sport firsthand.
