Judo Stars Converge in Valencia for Successful Training Camp



Record-breaking Participation

Valencia, Spain, played host to an unprecedented gathering of judo enthusiasts as the Valencia Judo Training celebrated its most successful edition yet. With 1558 judocas representing 55 nations and spanning 13 days of intense training, the event covered an extensive 2200 square meters of tatami.

Olympic and World Champions in Action

The training camp attracted an impressive lineup of judo stars, including Olympic medalists such as:

  • Fran Garrigós (Spain) – World Champion and Bronze medalist at the 2024 Paris Olympics
  • Daviat Bobonov (Uzbekistan) – Bronze medalist at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics
  • Odette Giuffrida (Italy) – Silver medalist at the 2016 Rio Olympics and Bronze medalist at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics
  • Rafaela Silva (Brazil) – Gold medalist at the 2016 Rio Olympics and Bronze medalist at the 2024 Paris Olympics
  • Haruka Funakubo (Japan) – Bronze medalist at the 2024 Paris Olympics

Training and Competition

The camp kicked off with the ‘New Generations’ training camp, which welcomed the upcoming talent in judo from around the world. Prior to the senior-level training, the Super Copa de España ‘Ciutat de València’ was held, gathering 269 athletes. The camp concluded with senior-level training, featuring more Olympic and World medallists.

Valencia: A Global Judo Hub

The Valencia Judo Training camp continues to solidify its reputation as one of the most significant events in the global judo calendar. This year’s edition generated a whopping 16,170 overnight stays, contributing to the local tourism industry.
