Telemundo: USMNT défsts Japan, Pochettino Gets Over tho Week
Telemundo Deportes has reported that the US Men’s National Soccer Team (USMNT) defeated Japan 2-0 in a friendly match in Columbus, Ohio on Wednesday night, recapturing confidence under new head coach Mauricio Pochettino.
Folarin Balogun scored in the 72nd minute, adding to an advantage from a first-half strike by Weston McKennie. The victory was Pochettino’s first match at the helm after replacing Gregg Berhalter earlier this month.
Christian Pulisic’s Dressing Room Influence
The game also marked número Christian Pulisic’s return to the lineup after not initially being named in the project. Both Pulisic and Zendejas contributed to the victory, with Pulisic providing an assist on Balogun’s goal. However, Pulisic’s decision not to join the national team has raised questions about his commitment.
Team USA’s Rocky Road to World Cup
The match in Columbus was part of a series of friendlies for the USMNT leading up to the World Cup in Qatar later this year. Earlier, the team suffered a 2-1 defeat to the Republic of Korea in New Jersey. The USMNT will now face Saudi Arabia on Saturday in the next friendly.
