Seine-Saint-Denis, Paris, Hauts-de-Seine (but not yet Val-de-Marne), all the venues in the region have, for several years, added the word “Arena” to their name. With the future Tremblay-en-France enclosure, Île-de-France will count four arenas in total. Paris news gives you the keys to avoid confusing them and getting lost the day you have to go there.

The Accor Arena in Bercy, the oldest

It is the emblematic room of Paris. Built in the 1980s, the Accor Arena in Bercy (Paris, 12th) has for many years hosted concerts and sporting events, such as MMA or the Masters 1000 in Paris Bercy (until this year before its move to Nanterre ) or even comedian shows. It has a capacity of 20,000 seats.

During the Olympic and Paralympic Games, the hall will host basketball, gymnastics and trampoline events.

To get there, several choices are available to visitors. :

  • By metro, the room is served by two lines (6 and 14). Finally, line 1 joins Gare de Lyon, which is located nearby,
  • Gare de Lyon is also the stop for RER A and D,
  • Several bus lines allow you to reach the Accor Arena: 20, 24, 63, 65.

Paris La Défense Arena, the entrance to Racing 92

In just a few years, it has become one of the highlights of Ile-de-France sport. Paris La Défense Arena, located in Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine), is since 2017 the home stadium of Racing 92, one of the best teams in the Top 14.

But that’s not all. Thanks to state-of-the-art technology, the room has the possibility of transforming quickly and offering other services: concerts obviously, but also important events such as the first convention of Paris 2024 volunteers. This plurality is also found in the capacity of the enclosure. With 15,000 seats on match days, it can accommodate up to 40,000 people.

But for the JOPs, the gauge was set at 17,000 spectators. They will attend the Olympic swimming events from July 27 to August 4, the water polo finals from August 5 to 11, then the Paralympic swimming events from August 29 to September 8.

The Adidas Arena, the latest setting for Paris 2024

This is the latest one to recently emerge from the ground. The Adidas Arena, inaugurated on February 12, 2024, is the only site built in intra-muros Paris. Located at Porte de la Chapelle in the 18th arrondissement, it can accommodate between 8,000 and 9,000 spectators.

Nicknamed the “mini Bercy of the north of Paris”, this enclosure benefits from an ultramodern design, reminiscent of the most beautiful American rooms. It is Paris Basket-ball which took possession of the premises three months ago. But in addition to sport, it will host – like the others – concerts, esports competitions and Olympic and Paralympic events this summer: badminton, rhythmic gymnastics, para badminton and para weightlifting.

Tips for getting there by public transport :

  • The site is served by Porte de la Chapelle station, line 12 and tramway 3b.
  • The RER E, with the Rosa Parks station, is also a possible option. But you will have to walk the kilometer that separates the station from the enclosure.

The Arena Grand Paris, the future “zenith” of Seine-Saint-Denis

The north of Seine-Saint-Denis will finally have its own arena. But we will have to wait (again) a little. The Arena Grand Paris will not be inaugurated until September 28, 2024 by… comedian Gad Elmaleh.

The owners decided to opt for more nostalgic programming by summoning Patrick Fiori, the troupe of Stars 80 or even that of L’Héritage Goldman. In total, around a hundred events should be offered each year. But as with the Adidas Arena, a sports club will be the official resident of the premises. This is the Tremblay handball club.

Solutions for getting there by public transport :

  • The RER B will serve the arena with the Parc des expositions stop in Villepinte. But you will have to walk around thirty minutes to get there,
  • From Charles-de-Gaulle airport, bus 350 will go directly to the Arena Grand Paris,
  • Finally, the future metro line 17, which will connect Saint-Denis Pleyel to Mesnil-Amelot from 2026, will offer new solutions to travelers.
