Krivbass players did not shake referee Kardeshler’s hand because of his work in Russia

The footballers of the Ukrainian club Krivbass refused to greet the referees in the fourth qualifying round match of the Conference League against Betis. It was reported by Sport24.

The meeting was served by a brigade led by the Turk Arda Kardeshler. Before the start of the whistle, the players of the Ukrainian club did not shake hands with the referees, because the chief referee used to work in a match of the Russian national team.

Previously, the Ukrainian side demanded that the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) replace Kardeshler. “Krivbass” pointed out that in March 2024, the referee officiated a friendly match between the national teams of Serbia and Russia in Moscow.

The meeting took place on August 22 in Kosice, Slovakia and ended with a score of 2:0 in favor of the Spanish team. The second leg will take place next week in Seville.
