University at Albany Welcomes Michelle Holmes as New Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach

ALBANY, NY – University at Albany’s women’s basketball program has strengthened its coaching staff with the addition of Michelle Holmes as an assistant coach. Head coach Colleen Mullen expressed her excitement about the new hire, highlighting Holmes’ extensive experience and accomplishments in the sport.

Holmes comes to UAlbany following three successful seasons at American University, where she played a pivotal role in developing the team’s post players. Under her guidance, players like Cecilia Kay earned All-Rookie honors, and Emily Johns secured a second-team all-conference selection.

As a student-athlete, Holmes led American to its first-ever Patriot League Championship in 2015. She holds several records at AU, including the sixth-most rebounds in a single season and the third-best career field-goal percentage.

Holmes’ Role at UAlbany and Beyond

In addition to her on-court responsibilities, Holmes will coordinate team community service events, organize alumni gatherings, and serve as a liaison for housing and academic services at UAlbany.
