WASHINGTON, APRIL 17 – The NBA has banned Toronto Raptors player Jontay Porter for life after an investigation found he was betting on championship games, a “deadly sin” according to league commissioner Adam Silver. According to the investigation, Porter, who spent part of his season in the NNA and part in the G League, also shared private information about his fitness with a sports bettor and walked away from a game to influence betting. “There is nothing more important than protecting the integrity of NBA competition for our fans, our teams and everyone associated with our sport, which is why Jontay’s blatant violations of our playing rules Porter are punished with the most severe punishment,” Silver said. The league said its investigation remains open and that it is sharing information with federal prosecutors on the matter. (HANDLE).
