Opening Night: Thunder Faces Rockets

On October 21, the legal champion of the NBA, the Oklahoma City Thunder, will tip off its inaugural season against the Houston Rockets at Oklahoma City’s Paycom Center.

“Montrealer Luguentz Dort and Ontarian Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will lead the Thunder against a group headed by Kevin Durant,” said an NBA official.

• The Thunder will host the San Antonio Spurs, featuring rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama, on Christmas Day for the first time since 2018.
• On Martin Luther King Day, January 19, the Thunder will visit the Cleveland Cavaliers at 2:30 p.m.
• The league will unveil the NBA Cup Matter Calendar on Wednesday, running from October 31 to December 16.

On October 21, LeBron James will start his 23rd season in the NBA, breaking Vince Carter’s record of 22 seasons.

On Christmas Day, five games will be broadcast by NBC, with a strong West flavor: Mavericks-Warriors, Rockets-Lakers, Timberwolves-Nuggets, and Spurs-Thunder. The only East matchup is Heat-Knicks at noon.
