The Quebec Major Baseball League (QMLB) rolled out the red carpet for its most dedicated fans at the annual gala on November 29, with Nicole Couture taking the spotlight as the number one fan of the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu Pirates.

A Season Ticket Holder Since Day One

Nicole Couture has been a season ticket holder of the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu Pirates since their inaugural season in 2015 at the Richard-Lafontaine stadium. She’s a fixture at home games, and even when the Pirates hit the road, Nicole and her partner Roger are there in a flash, cheering on their team across Quebec.

Rain, Snow, or Shine

Nothing dampens Nicole’s spirits, not even Mother Nature’s mood swings. She’s there under the summer sun and the fall chill, always ready to lend her support to the Pirates.

“We are privileged to have a senior team in Saint-Jean. We have good baseball and the team is having success. I am first and foremost a baseball fan,” Nicole says.

Throughout the years, she’s seen many talented players like François Lafrenière, Guillaume Morin, Nicolas Loiseau, and Kevin Tremblay grace the field, but Nicole remains an unbiased cheerleader.

“I encourage the team. I am a positive supporter,” she explains.

Scoring the Action

Nicole never misses a beat on the field, keeping a meticulous scorecard for every match. From singles and doubles to walks and strikeouts, she’s got it all covered.

“It keeps me in the game!” she laughs.

With 25 years of coaching softball and fastpitch under her belt, Nicole now coaches a men’s team in the Olympic Softball League. Her retirement gift to herself, perhaps?
