A statement issued by the Supreme Electoral Committee of the General Football Federation said that it continues its ongoing meetings, to follow up on the implementation of its tasks in accordance with the electoral system, the road map and the federation’s circular, noting that it reviewed the lists of candidates after closing the nomination period on the 31st of last October.
She added that the General Secretariat of the Union handed over to the committee the lists of candidates received via email, in addition to receiving statements from the delegates in charge in Aden and Sanaa, where the Aden delegate confirmed that he had not received any document, while the Sanaa delegate reported receiving the files of seventeen candidates.
She indicated that all the documents received were documented and submitted in PDF format to the committee, where the candidates were distributed to the positions as follows:
• Position of Federation President: two candidates.
• The position of First Vice President of the Federation: three candidates.
• Position of Second Vice President of the Federation: five candidates.
• Union membership: twenty-seven candidates.
The statement explained that the committee also reviewed 4 nomination applications that were received after the specified date, which was 12 noon, and according to the electoral system and roadmap, the committee decided not to accept these nominations.
She indicated that during the past few days, the committee reviewed the candidates’ documents and identified those who met the candidacy conditions, in addition to listing the files that needed to complete the documents, noting that the results of this review were sent to the General Secretariat of the Federation, so that the candidates could be contacted to complete the missing documents.
The statement said that the General Secretariat began communicating with the candidates the day before yesterday morning to complete the required documents, after which the names of the accepted candidates will be announced on November 9, followed by the opening of appeals until noon on November 11, with the Appeals Committee issuing its final decision on the 14th. November, the day on which the Supreme Elections Commission will publish the final names of candidates eligible to run in the elections.
The committee stressed the importance of adhering to the specified timetables and organizational procedures to ensure that the electoral process proceeds transparently and fairly, and looked forward to the cooperation of all candidates in completing the required documents within the specified dates.
