After becoming, over the last year, the favorite couple of tennis fans, appearing a lot on social networks during their trips to exotic places, the Spaniard Paula Badosa and the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas announced their separation on Sunday.

“Our journey has been filled with love and learning, and it is as friends, filled with immense respect for each other, that we have decided to continue each on our own,” wrote the former world second on Instagram, while asking fans to respect their privacy.

Adieu, «Tsitsidosa»

Badosa and Tsitsipas, currently ranked seventh on the ATP, had been a couple for almost a year. The pair were nicknamed “Tsitsidosa” – a contraction of both their names – and were frequently seen cheering each other on during their respective matches.

The 25-year-old Greek had also said of the Spaniard a year his senior that she was his “soul mate” last year, in an interview given to the German magazine Bild (to read ici).

“I will tell you this: I have met a lot of women in my life,” Tsitsipas continued in his interview. And I can say this with great confidence, I have never felt so attracted and never found so much beauty and interest in a woman.”
