Tennis number 1 Jannik Sinner is still facing a ban despite being released after two positive doping tests.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) continues to say this and announced that it appealed to the International Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne last Thursday.
The world’s number one offender tested positive twice for the anabolic steroid Clostebol in March. The 23-year-old did not receive a ban. The supervisor TennisThe Itia Association justified the release by saying that no willful misconduct or negligence could be proven against the two-time Grand Slam champion.

According to WADA, this statement is “not correct according to the applicable rules”. WADA, based in Montreal, Canada, therefore wants a “ban of one or two years” for Sinner. However, the authorities do not want any further deletion of the results in addition to what was ordered by the first court. Sinner won the US Open in early September.

How does an Italian sports star describe himself?
Sinner explained in a statement published on social media that the drug entered his body through the hands of a physiotherapist. Therefore, the carer used a spray containing Clostebol, which is available without a prescription in Italy, to treat the cut of his finger.
According to Itia, scientists found Sinner’s statement to be reliable. This is why the tennis federation stopped short of banning Sinner, even temporarily. This created a misunderstanding within the tennis community.
