Tanvi Sharma’s Upset Win over Seventh Seed
Sixteen-year-old Tanvi Sharma defeated Ukraine’s seventh-seeded Polina Buhrova 21-14, 21-16 in just 34 minutes to book her place in the finals. This victory marks the teenager’s second consecutive win against the Ukrainian.
“I’m delighted to be in the finals. It’s been a great tournament so far, and I’m looking forward to the challenge ahead,” said Tanvi.
Tanvi will now face top seed and local favorite Beiwen Zhang in the championship match.
Ayush Shetty Upsets World No. 6
Fourth-seed Ayush Shetty pulled off a stunning upset by overcoming top seed and world No. 6 Chou Tien Chen of Chinese-Taipei 21-23, 21-15, 21-14. The grueling men’s singles match lasted over an hour.
Ayush will face another tough opponent in the finals, as he takes on third-seed Brian Yang of Canada, who defeated Chinese Taipei’s Liao Jhuo-Fu 21-10, 21-12.
