The Swarthmore College baseball team secured a split in a doubleheader against Pfeiffer University on Saturday night. The Garnet fell in the opener 14-11 before rallying for a 5-2 victory in the nightcap.

Game One: Pfeiffer Outlasts Swarthmore in High-Scoring Affair

Pfeiffer took an early lead in the first inning, but Swarthmore quickly responded with two runs. Leo Kedar then extended the Garnet’s advantage with a home run in the second, making it 3-1. Swarthmore continued to build momentum, leading 5-2 and later 11-5, before Pfeiffer mounted a dramatic comeback, scoring three runs in the seventh and six in the eighth to secure a 14-11 win.

Steven Jungers entered the game in the fifth with two runners on and no outs and proceeded to strike out three consecutive batters. Swarthmore then took the lead in the sixth on a double by Jackson Clemens and a single by Alessandro Propper-Bowring. Brad Johnston added a home run in the seventh, and Peterson scored on a sacrifice bunt, extending the lead to 5-2. Jungers closed out the game with three more strikeouts in the seventh inning.
