The guests were the SV Reinickendorf 1896 II team, which had also been reinforced with two players from the regional league team. In the first round, Wojciech Niespial played at number two, Ralf Stoffers at number four and Mathias Schirow at number six. Unfortunately, it became clear relatively early on that Wojciech Niespial would not be able to offer much resistance to his opponent’s strong punches. Nevertheless, he did creditably with 3:6 and 2:6.

Confidence grew after the first sets of the other two singles were won relatively confidently. But both Ralf Stoffers and Mathias Schirow were unable to maintain the level and each lost the second set quite clearly with 1:6. Both also lost the following match tie-break, although Ralf Stoffers missed two match balls. After the first individual round it was already 0:3.

Then Mihal Zamiatala (No. 1), Sebastian Bradke (No. 3) and the newcomer Andy Gerth (No. 5) competed in the second round. But here too it became clear that the opposing team was much stronger. Mihal Zamiatala and Andy Gerth lost their games with an almost identical result (2:6; 1:6 and 1:6; 2:6). However, the final score was clearer than the course of the game, which featured very exciting rallies at a high level, unfortunately mostly with a better end for the opponents.

Sebastian Bradke, however, won the first set and almost drove his opponent to despair. But then he began to lose concentration, so he had to give up the second set. In the match tie-break he held up well for a long time, but then had to let his opponent pull away and ultimately lost the last singles 6:2; 4:6 and 6:10. The defeat was already sealed and the doubles actually only had a formal character.

But here too, all players showed high-class tennis at a very high level, so that the spectators were treated to tennis worth seeing. Sebastian Bradke and Ralf Stoffers were able to win in the end (6:3; 6:3) and saved the team the honorary point. Of course the overall result was depressing for the team, but the mood should brighten next Sunday at TC GW Nikolassee. Despite the defeat, the game showed that the Brandenburg team can compete at this level and should be able to stay in the class.
