Okinawa Sports Management (Naha City), which provides athlete management and second career support, recently launched its second Okinawa Athlete Support Project. Continuing from the previous project, Re-Birth (Tokyo, President Hideyuki Furukawa) provided financial support. Nine organizations and individuals within the prefecture that hold events that contribute to the local community received support, including BULLS OKINAWA (Uruma City), which promotes tag rugby in the prefecture.
For PR, Okinawa Athlete Support Project President Takeshi Fukuri and others visited Ryukyu Shimposha in Izumizaki, Naha City on the 17th. Ruichi Miyagi (Johoku Junior High School graduate), who has been studying abroad since September with the intention of playing in the NBA, is also one of those who received support. His mother, Nodoka, said, “Funding for travel expenses was a bottleneck, but thanks to the project, we were able to continue our activities.
Riichiro Shinjo of the Okinawa Football Academy, which strives to develop junior flag football players, plans to use the funds to cover travel expenses for the children who will participate in the international match in Taiwan in November.
President Fukuri appealed to the public, saying, “We are looking for athletes who are interested in the project and companies who want to support it.” A detailed overview of the project can be found on the Okinawa Sports Management website.
