Ben Lan and Sean Vendy have enjoyed an impressive run to the quarter-finals of the 2024 Danish Open.

Lane and Wendy, who will represent Team GB at Paris 2024, kicked off their men’s doubles campaign against Malaysian duo Ong Yew Sin and Teo Ee Yee, dispatching their first-round opponents 21-18 21-8.

Then came the challenge of Chinese Taipei pair Li Jie-Hui and Yang Po-Hsuan, who took Len and Wendy to the wire in Odense.

After winning the first game 21-16, the British shuttler bounced back as Lee and Yang took the second 21-14.

Lane and Wendy held their nerve to win the nail-biting game 23-21 to advance to the last eight.

Indonesia’s sixth seeds Fajr Alfian and Mohamed Rian Ardianto were next to see Lane and Vendy lose 21-15 21-19 to see their run come to an end.

Elsewhere in the men’s doubles, Callum Hemming and Ethan van Leeuwen failed to make it past the first round, with Malaysia’s Man Wei Chong and Kai Wan Tee coming out on top 21-11 21-10.

Hemming also appeared on the same mixed doubles podium as Estelle van Leeuwen, with the pair beaten by the Danish duo of Rasmus Espersen and Amalie Cecilie Kudsk.

Ethan van Leeuwen was also in the mixed doubles with Chloe Birch but went out at the first hurdle after being beaten 21-7 21-14 by Tan Qian Meng and Lai Pi Jing.

Greg and Jenny Mars lost to Hong Kong’s Tse Ying Sut and fourth seed Tang Chun Man at the same stage.
