Two five-set victories make the difference

Sophie Heidebrecht made a good impression on her debut for the Solingen second division team. The 18-year-old newcomer from Refrath contributed two points to the first victory of the season. The Heidebrecht/Alicia Molitor doubles won in three sets, while the Markus Hennes/Heidebrecht mixed pair needed five sets to win their match. The Justin Dang/Niklas Niemczyk doubles pairing also won in an exciting five sets. Alicia Molitor, on the other hand, was clearly superior in the women’s singles and won her match in three sets.

Niemczyk scores the only point

In the second home game against the strong opponent from Wipperfürth, Nikolas Klauer emerged as the new top player, while Niklas Niemczyk slipped to second place. Niemczyk, a long-time regular player and team captain, was finally able to win his singles match in four sets and score the only point for the unlucky Solingen hosts that day.

That was important at the start, especially since we showed a strong team performance against Cologne.

Niklas Niemczyk

Team captain of STC Blau-Weiß

After the two games, the team captain focused primarily on the first two points of the season: “That was important at the start, especially since we showed a strong team performance against Cologne.” However, Niemczyk also concluded that “a lot went wrong against Wipperfeld.” Even though the opponent, whose first team competes in the 1st Bundesliga, arrived with a top line-up and can be classified as “one of the three strongest teams in this group.”
