One more year, the Emiliano Allende Auditorium in Medina del Campo hosted the “Sports Gala 2024”, organized by the Department of Sports, under the command of Ricardo Coca. The event was not only a showcase for local sporting achievements, but also to confirm and vindicate what was already known, which is that the town has a great diversity of disciplines that root sport as an essential pillar of our community.

In the heart of Medina del Campo, sport is not only competition; It is a means to forge identity. From gymnastics to athletics, fencing, judo and football, local clubs play a fundamental role in the competitive arena.

During the gala, athletes who are examples of dedication and excellence were recognized. Among them, Santiago Cabezas Membiela, from the Gimnástica Medinense, and Andrea de Castro, from the Castillo de la Mota Athletics Club, shone as leaders of effort and improvement. The diversity of disciplines was also evident with names such as Luna Alcolea Paniagua, from the Budokan Medina Club, and Cebuc Eduard Mihai, from the El Duque Esgrima Club, who demonstrate that in Medina del Campo any sporting dream has its space.

The development of sports in the town would not be possible without the unconditional support of institutions, sponsors and families. This is why the Medina Dental Clinic was awarded Best Sponsor 2024, a recognition that highlights the importance of economic and social support to keep sporting activity alive. In addition, the City Council’s Special Awards to figures such as Óscar Botrán, Elsa Cuadrado Martín and Dionisio Zurdo reflect how the community recognizes not only the achievements on the playing field, but also the impact that these people have as references for the new generations of Medinenses.

The gala also served to highlight that sport in Medina del Campo is an inclusive and culturally enriching experience. The performances of the urban dance group from the Danzarte Dance School and the musical combo from the Municipal School of Music provided an artistic nuance that cultural expressions can converge around sport. It is undeniable that Medina del Campo breathes sport.

The clubs and athletes, together with the tireless work of coaches, sponsors and the Sports Department, have built an ecosystem that promotes healthy habits and team values. The gala was not only a night of awards, but a reaffirmation that sport is, and will continue to be, one of the great strengths of Medina del Campo.
