Following their loss to the United States in Malaga, the Spanish basketball team faced another setback in their preparation for the upcoming Basketball World Cup 2023. This time, they were defeated by Canada in a thrilling match held in Grenada, with a final score of 85-80 in overtime.

Spain showcased an impressive defensive performance during the first half, particularly in the second quarter. However, their offensive struggles, especially with outside shooting, hindered their performance in the second half. The team managed to convert only 10 of their 35 three-point attempts. Despite this, the match remained closely contested, and after 40 minutes, the score was tied at 73-73.

Canada Emerges Victorious in Overtime

In the extra period, Canada quickly gained a 7-0 advantage, thanks to the efforts of Dwight Powell, Dillon Brooks, and RJ Barrett. They maintained their lead and secured the victory with a final score of 85-80.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was the top scorer of the game, contributing 22 points and 6 rebounds. RJ Barrett also had an impressive performance with 18 points.
