South Korea Ends Chinese Rule in Sudirman Cup with Victory in Gold Coast

South Korea’s badminton team has ended Chinese rule. In the Sudirman Cup the Chinese were defeated after 5 final victories in a row.

In the unofficial world championship for mixed teams, China had to hand over the title to South Korea in Gold Coast, Australia.

China was ahead

China led 2-1 after a convincing win by Olympic and world champion Chen Long over Jeon Hyeok-jin (21-10 21-10), but South Korea fought back in the women’s doubles. Chang Ye-na and Lee So-hee leveled the score with a nice victory over Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan (21-19 21-13).

Mixed doubles to Korea

Choi Sol-Gyu and Chae Yoo-Jung then performed impressively in the final mixed doubles with a victory over Lu Kai and Huang Yaqiong (21-17 21-13).
