The Lungomare Fest has proven itself to be an unmissable event for families and sportsmen alike, covering Catania’s coastline, from Piazza Europa to Piazza Mancini Battaglia, with events focused on sports, leisure and environmental protection. The event, which is part of the “Sports City 2024” program, saw enthusiastic participation by adults and children with activities such as roller skating, foot races and walking on the sea.
In the renovated Piazza Franco Battiato, the exhibition of freestyle skating culminated in “Roller Day”, which won the public’s admiration for the performance of national level athletes. The participants had the opportunity to skate or bike safely on the beach under the guidance of instructors from the Italian Roller Sports Federation, while the young people tried their hand at skateboarding, games and competitions organized by sports clubs.
The event featured group activities such as dancing on ice skates and for the smaller games on the badminton, soccer and roller hockey fields, Sport and Health in collaboration with the regional CONI.
Sports Council Sergio Paris said that he was very satisfied with the success of the day and explained that the closure of vehicular traffic combined with sports activities was a success. Considering the Coney Cup, which brings thousands of athletes from all over Italy to Catania in October, the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, announced his presence on October 4.
