Jannik Sinner Returns to Victory, Reflects on Pressure After US Open Final

Sinner Kicks Off Beijing Return with Victory

Jannik Sinner, the 24-year-old Italian tennis sensation, marked his return to the ATP 500 Beijing tournament with a resounding victory. He defeated Marin Cilic, the Croatian player, 6-2, 6-2 to advance to the round of 16. Sinner will next face French player Terry Atman in his quest for the championship.

It is always difficult to play against Marin. His level is of a very, very high level. I trained with him in New York, so I had a recent sample, but I have a lot of respect. I could break the serve quite soon, which gave me a normal day. Jannik Sinner

Sinner Reflects on World No. 2 Ranking and Pressure

After falling short in the US Open final against Carlos Alcaraz, Sinner returned to the media and shared his insights on the pressure of being the world No. 2.

After New York, Sinner acknowledges the ranking change but clarifies it doesn’t alter his pressure levels. “No, I think it does not take me or adds pressure. The season has gone as it went: yes, we have distributed the Grand Slams, but we have still had two very different seasons.”

Sinner praises his rival Alcaraz, expressing gratitude for his successful year. “I am very, very happy with the year that I am still signing. For my part, I feel that what I have achieved has been exceptional. What Carlos is achieving, in addition, is also: he has won many, many titles this year. He deserves to be there, as simple as that. He has played more tournaments and played them all at a very high level of tennis. If he has signed great results, he deserves to be there,” adds Sinner.

Sinner Eyes ATP & Davis Cup Finals

Sinner analyses the remaining tournaments for this season, including ATP and Davis Cup finals. “What has to happen in Turin will happen. The Davis Cup has different factors. Do not play for yourself, you play throughout your country, which makes you feel a different pressure.”

The season is not over yet. We still have this tournament, Shanghai and Paris, two very large 1000 masters, and Turin and the Davis Cup. We still have huge tournaments. The most important have already left, the Grand Slams, and we have distributed them. All I can say is that I am very happy with the year I have done. The ranking comes and goes,” Jannik Sinner concluded.
