SD Huesca Struggles to Score in 0-0 Draw Against Albacete

Effort and improved defense were evident in SD Huesca’s recent match against Albacete. However, these factors alone are not enough to satisfy the hungry fans. After thirteen games, Huesca is still winless at El Alcoraz and has only managed to score in one of their last five matches, thanks to an own goal from Eibar. In order to climb out of the relegation zone and show real progress, Huesca needs to accumulate victories and find the back of the net more frequently. The draw with Albacete leaves them four points away from safety, which is a small consolation if they don’t start winning.

A Dynamic Lineup with Five Changes

This clash was the third since the change of manager on the bench, and the second consecutive home game after a defeat against Elche. Coach Hidalgo, still searching for his first victory, introduced five changes to the team. Apart from the midfield trio of Sielva, Kento, and Javi Martínez, the rest of the lineup saw new faces. Joaquín and Valentín returned from injury, and Bolívar earned his first start. The team experimented with a 4-4-2 formation when attacking, with the three center backs staying back to defend.

A Solid Defensive Performance

Huesca’s defense was solid throughout the game, with most of Albacete’s attempts coming from long range. However, Huesca also struggled to create scoring opportunities and only managed one shot on goal. Compared to previous matches, Huesca has shown improvement in ball possession but still lacks the ability to convert chances into goals.

A Lack of Cutting Edge in the Final Third

The match started with some promising moments, including a header from Blasco and attempts from Escriche and Manu Fuster. However, Huesca failed to capitalize on these opportunities. Bolívar, in particular, was eager but imprecise throughout the game. Valentín’s cross to Javi Martínez was one of the closest chances, but Huesca couldn’t find the back of the net.

No Breakthrough in the Second Half

The second half began with a scare as Higinio’s header forced a save from Huesca’s goalkeeper Álvaro. Albacete started the half stronger, prompting Hidalgo to make substitutions and change the forward line. Huesca pushed forward and had a few attempts, but Albacete’s defense held firm. Despite dominating possession, Huesca couldn’t create clear-cut chances.

Looking Ahead

Huesca’s next match is in the cup against Aguilas from Murcia, followed by a crucial game against Amorebieta, a direct rival in the battle to avoid relegation. These upcoming matches provide an opportunity for Huesca to regain their winning mentality and climb up the table.
