The San Diego Padres officially announced the incorporation of Venezuelan slugger Luis Arráez to their ranks for the current 2024 Major League season.

The announcement was made by the Major League Baseball (MLB) club through its account on the social network X (former Twitter), where they welcomed ‘La Regadera’ to make their offense even more powerful.

“The San Diego Padres acquired infielder Luis Arráez and cash considerations from the Miami Marlins in exchange for first baseman Nathan Martorella, outfielders Dillon Head and Jakob Marsee, and right-hander Woo-Suk Go,” the club.

The change between the Miami Marlins and the Padres occurred in the middle of a Major League game, so Arráez had to abandon his performance as he was not part of the Florida organization.

The arrival of Arráez to the San Dieg lineup generates an important boost for its offense, because he is the two-time batting champion (.316 in the American League in 2022, .354 in the National League 2023) and two-time All-Star (2022-23).

The Venezuelan currently has a .299 batting average with 41 hits, five RBIs and 22 runs scored.

“Since his Major League debut in 2019, Arráez leads all Major League players with a .324 average and has an OBP of .377, OPS of .801, 115 doubles, 12 triples, 24 home runs, 206 runs RBIs, 180 walks and 309 runs scored in 569 career games,” the team concluded.
