According to a survey by the analytical center A2:Research, the most spectacular and popular, in the opinion of Russian sports fans, was football (39%), in second place was hockey (30%), and in third place was mixed martial arts (21%). More than half of those surveyed admitted that they spend up to 10 thousand rubles per month on sports shows and broadcasts. Gazeta.Ru has familiarized itself with the results of the study.

Although Russians still have access to broadcasts of world championships and tournaments, 38% believe that the most interesting sports show is held in Russia. Another 30%, on the contrary, choose Europe. American broadcasts are preferred by 13% of respondents, Asian ones – 10%, the respondents watch African shows the least – 9%.

Half of respondents say they have a favorite team or athlete. At the same time, 91% of respondents are sure that without an object of support they will not be able to enjoy watching sports events. Most often, “favorites” (teams or individual athletes) are found among fans of football (42%), hockey (32%) and boxing (7%).

Despite possible losses of their favorite team or athlete, for 71% of respondents watching sports broadcasts brings only positive emotions. Spectacular sports events most often cause adrenaline (59%), fun (47%) and excitement (42%) in sports fans. The top 5 most “emotional” sports, according to respondents, include football (39%), hockey (30%), mixed martial arts (21%), auto racing (17%) and basketball (15%).

Russians spend more on sports than just supporting their favorite athletes and paying for broadcasts. Only 21% of respondents do not spend any money on watching games/events. Half of respondents report regular expenses, while 29% report periodic expenses. Most often, expenses concern going to bars/restaurants to watch selected events (59%), buying the necessary broadcasts (20%), and food (18%). More than half of respondents spend no more than 10 thousand rubles per month on sports shows, 13% spend from 10 to 20 thousand rubles, and 12% spend from 20 to 30 thousand rubles.
